1. Injuries:     

Ligament tears:ACL, MCL, or LCL tears are typical sports injuries producing pain, swelling, and instability.
 Meniscus tears: Pain, clicking, and catching sensations can result from these cartilage tears, which can be caused by twisting motions or normal wear and tear.
 Fractures:Severe pain and restricted mobility are caused by broken bones in or near the knee joint.

2. Overuse: 

Iliotibial band syndrome:  Tightening of the IT band, causing pain on the outer knee;

Bursitis: Inflammation of fluid-filled sacs (bursae) surrounding the knee, causing pain and swelling; 

Tendinitis: Inflammation of tendons from repetitive activities, such as running or jumping, causing pain and stiffness.

3. Arthritis: 

Osteoarthritis: Deterioration of cartilage, resulting in pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion;

4. Kneecap issues:

Dislocation: The kneecap shifts out of position, resulting in discomfort and instability.

Patellofemoral pain syndrome: Pain surrounding the kneecap as a result of overuse or misalignment.

Baker's cyst: an accumulation of fluid behind the knee that causes discomfort and swelling.
