A rare neurological condition known as Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) occurs when the body's immune system unintentionally targets a portion of the peripheral nervous system. Muscle weakness and occasionally paralysis may result from this.

Reasons: An infection, such as a gastrointestinal or respiratory infection, frequently causes GBS. In certain instances, GBS can also be brought on by surgery or immunization.
Symptoms:The following are typical symptoms of GBS, which can vary in severity:  Muscle weakness, usually beginning in the legs and moving to the upper body , Hand and foot tingling or numbness , Balance and coordination issues , Eye movement issues , Pain , Swallowing or speaking difficulties

Treatment: Although there isn't a cure for GBS, treatment can hasten healing and reduce symptoms. Among the possible treatment options are:  Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) " Plasma exchange " Supportive care, including as respiratory support and physical therapy
