Process of Selection:

One hundred communities were chosen for the mission in a two-stage competition. Cities competed by submitting plans that outlined their goals and approaches to become smart.

Supply and Execution:

Central Government Assistance: Offers financial support of Rs. 48,000 crores spread over five years, or Rs. 100 crore on average each city every year.
State/ULB Matching Funds: Equal matching contributions are made by states and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

 Additional Resources: A variety of methods, including grants, municipal bonds, and creative financing techniques, can be used to raise money.
